HON

Founded in 1944 in Muscatine, Iowa by local businessmen C. Maxwell Stanley, Clement Hanson, and H. Wood Miller, Hon National Industries (HNI) opened its doors as Home-O-Nize, with the vision of becoming a steel products manufacturing company that would provide good jobs for local men returning from World War II.

Today, HNI Corporation is the second largest office furniture manufacturer in the world as well as the nation’s leading manufacturer and marketer of gas and wood-burning fireplaces. Over the years Hon National Industries acquired many smaller furniture manufacturers and furniture related service providers. In addition to the HON Company, HNI Furniture Division manufacturers include Allsteel, Gunlocke, Maxon, Paoli (now shut down), Omni Workspace Company, Hickory Business Furniture, and others are part of HNI. The HON Company is North America’s leading provider of office furniture for the mid-market segment. Allsteel offers superior contract furnishings that compete in the “Grade A” category. Gunlocke and Hickory Business Furniture build wood office furniture.
Hearth and Home Technologies is the US’ leading manufacturer of hearth products and among the most recognized brands in fireplace technology worldwide.
Pear Project Services’ inventory frequently includes HON Ignition, Solve, Convergenc, and Basyx chairs, Accelerate and Concensys systems furniture and Voi Desking products as well as Allsteel’s You, Evo, and Acuity seating and some beautiful Gunlocke lounge furniture pieces.
